Description
American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a 13-week day-shift assignment requiring at least 1 year of experience and current Epic proficiency.
Details
- Medical Surgical unit with remote telemetry monitoring and general med/surg diagnoses
- Adolescent to geriatric patient population
- Patient ratio of 1:6 on a 38-bed unit with an average daily census of 33
- Uses Epic EMR (required), Pyxis, and SBAR communication
- Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
- Every other weekend required unless otherwise specified
- Floating required within facility and scope of practice as needed
- No on-call requirements
Requirements
- Active GA or Compact RN license required
- Current BLS certification required
- Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg nursing experience required
- Experience with 1:6 patient ratios required
- Epic charting system experience required
- Skilled in cardiac monitoring and emergency response, including rapid response/code team use
- Proficient in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and peripheral line care/management
- Experience with respiratory care including nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, and oxygen administration
- Knowledgeable in isolation precautions and PPE use
- First-time travelers are accepted
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care on a fast-paced Medical Surgical unit including cardiac monitoring and respiratory support
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract, all RTO must be finalized at time of submission
- No RTO requests permitted during orientation week (Monday-Sunday) or after submission/offer
- Blackout dates apply for RTO during Spring Break (April 4th-12th)
- Holiday coverage required based on number of major holidays falling within the assignment: work 1 holiday if one occurs, work both if two occur, or work 2 of 3 if three occur
- Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day
- Full compliance required to start on time, as any delays result in a two-week push back due to biweekly orientation scheduling
- Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate
- Previous perm, per diem, or FCSS staff must be away from all Piedmont facilities for one full year before applying as a traveler
- Travelers previously cancelled or DNR'd by the facility must complete one assignment outside of Piedmont before reapplying
- Shift and contract length are firm with no alternate schedule requests permitted
- Travel pairs cannot be assigned to the same shift on the same unit
