Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery night shift position requiring a CO/compact RN license and prior travel nursing experience.

Details

  • Work in the Labor and Delivery unit of a hospital environment
  • Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00-07:30, various days of the week
  • 13-week contract assignment
  • Patient ratios of 1:2, with up to 4:1 for antepartum or postpartum patients
  • Weekend shifts required per unit needs
  • On-call responsibilities required per unit needs
  • Floating required to other units within the same service line
  • May be required to float to a sister facility (Memorial Hospital North)
  • Epic charting system used
  • Trauma Level II facility
  • High-volume delivery unit with 200-300+ births per month

Requirements

  • Active RN license (CO or Compact) currently in hand
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, AWHONN Intermediate, and FHM
  • AWHONN Advanced and C-EFM certifications preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience required
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • Trauma Level II hospital experience required
  • Trauma Level I and Community Hospital experience preferred
  • Previous Charge Nurse experience preferred
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Experience with high-risk deliveries, C-section circulation/recovery, fetal monitoring, and management of obstetric complications (e.g., pre-eclampsia, PPH, placenta previa)
  • First-time travelers will not be considered for this position

Additional Information

  • Provide comprehensive care across antepartum, labor and delivery, and postpartum stages
  • Support high-risk antepartum patients and manage complex obstetric conditions
  • Assist with vaginal deliveries, C-sections, and related surgical procedures
  • Perform newborn care including APGAR scoring, resuscitation, and discharge teaching
  • Administer medications including Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, and antihypertensives
  • Utilize fetal monitoring equipment including external and internal fetal monitors and IUPC placement
  • Maximum of 10 RTO days approved per 13-week contract
  • RTO is not allowed during specified blackout periods: September 2-12, 2026; October 25-November 4, 2026; November 22-December 2, 2026; and December 20, 2026-January 3, 2027
  • Some flexibility on RTO restrictions may be considered for harder-to-fill positions
  • Local candidates residing within 75 miles of the facility may be considered at the local rate
  • Candidates previously employed by the health system within the last two years are not eligible for consideration
  • Returning travelers who completed a full year on assignment are subject to a one-year rebooking restriction
  • Completion of facility-specific training modules required within the first week of assignment
