Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a night shift teaching hospital position requiring 1 year of experience and Epic charting proficiency.

Details

• Work in the Medical Surgical unit of a teaching hospital
• Patient population includes CHF, COPD, SBO, sepsis, stroke, diabetes, orthopedic conditions, chest pain, and wound care cases
• Patient ratio of 1:5-6
• Night shift schedule, 4x12 hours (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call responsibilities
• Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

• Active RN license (WI or Compact) currently in hand
• Current BLS certification required; ACLS, CPI, and NIHSS preferred
• Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg nursing experience required
• Epic charting experience required
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Skilled in IV therapy/phlebotomy, central and peripheral line management, and PICC line care
• Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, high flow nasal cannula, and oxygen administration
• Knowledge of colostomy/ileostomy and feeding tube management
• Experience with cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation
• Proficient in isolation precautions/PPE and wound care/wound vac management
• Two professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care to a diverse Med/Surg population with varying acuity levels
• Facility requires navy blue scrubs

• Local candidates within 70 miles of the facility are not accepted
• Candidates must live outside a 70-mile radius from the facility to be eligible
• Clinicians cannot work more than 1 year as a traveler at this facility without taking a 6-month break before returning
