Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a PACU position requiring 3 years of PACU experience and prior travel nursing experience.

Details

• Work in the PACU department of a hospital setting
• Patient population includes surgical patients requiring pre and post-operative care across specialties such as general, ortho, GYN, urology, and ENT
• Patient ratio is 1:1 approximately 95% of the time
• Utilizes Epic charting system
• Day shift schedule: 4x10-hour shifts, 9:30 AM to 8:00 PM
• Rotational weekend call required

Requirements

• Active VA or compact RN license required, in-hand at time of consideration
• Required certifications: AHA BLS and ACLS (AHA ACLS meets BLS requirement); PALS also required
• Minimum 3 years of PACU experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, port access/management, blood product administration, and central line care
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, arterial line management, and dysrhythmia recognition
• Proficient in pre/post-operative patient care including consent, assessment, education, and discharge instructions
• Knowledge of various anesthesia types including general, spinal, MAC, and nerve blocks
• BSN required for international travelers

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive pre and post-operative nursing care across multiple surgical specialties
• Participate in nursing student support and clinical education as part of care team responsibilities
• General orientation begins on Sundays with online CBL modules, averaging 4-5 hours
• Must reside 100+ miles from the facility's service area; local candidates are not accepted
• Facial hair must be trimmed or removed to meet CDC fit testing guidelines
• Candidates must be available to complete drug testing within 12-14 calendar days prior to start, including potential retesting
• RTO must be submitted for consideration
• First-time travelers are not being considered for this position
• Candidates with prior employment at this health system may only be submitted once
