Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a night shift assignment requiring 2 years of ICU experience and a GA or compact RN license.

Details

• Work in the ICU of a hospital setting
• Patient population ranges from adults to geriatrics with diagnoses including ARDS, sepsis, stroke, STEMI, DKA, post-op complications, cardiogenic shock, GIB, COPD exacerbation, encephalopathy, liver failure, drug overdose, and ESRD on CRRT
• 24-bed unit with an average daily census of 19
• Patient ratio of 1:2-3, with the possibility of taking a 3rd patient
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00-7:00
• Every other weekend required unless specified otherwise
• Floating required within facility and scope of practice as needed
• Uses Pyxis and Epic systems with SBAR communication
• Navy blue scrubs required

Requirements

• Active RN license (GA or Compact) required
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS required prior to start; TNCC preferred
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
• Skills required: respiratory/thoracic care, care of ventilated patients, high flow nasal cannula (HFNC), suctioning (ETT, NT), IV therapy, and central line care/management
• Skills required: CVA/acute stroke management and cardiac monitoring with dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Preferred skills: post neurosurgery management, CVVHD/CRRT, and post cardiac surgery care (not directly from OR)
• First-time travelers are accepted

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing to a diverse ICU patient population with complex diagnoses
• RTO maximum of 7 days per contract
• If one or two major holidays fall during the assignment, availability to work is expected with no holiday RTO permitted; if three major holidays fall during the assignment, one holiday RTO request may be considered
• Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day
• Travel pairs are not permitted on the same shift and unit
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate
• Block scheduling is not guaranteed
• Full compliance is required to start on time
