Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Med/Surg RN for a night shift teaching hospital position requiring EPIC charting experience and a WI or compact RN license.

Details

• Work in the Medical Surgical unit of a teaching hospital
• Patient population includes diagnoses such as CHF, COPD, SBO, sepsis, stroke, diabetes, orthopedic conditions, chest pain, and wounds
• Patient ratio of 1:5-6
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 19:00 to 07:00
• Every third weekend required
• No on-call responsibilities

Requirements

• Active WI or compact RN license in hand (pending licenses not accepted)
• BLS certification required; ACLS, CPI, and NIHSS preferred
• Minimum 1 year of recent RN experience required
• EPIC charting experience required
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, port access/management, blood product administration, central and peripheral line care, and PICC line management
• Skilled in respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tube management, high flow nasal cannula, and oxygen administration
• Skilled in colostomy/ileostomy and feeding tube care
• Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and heparin/PCA administration
• Skilled in isolation precautions/PPE and wound care/wound vac management
• Experience in Med/Surg, MS/Tele, plastics, and orthopedics including total joint replacement preferred

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive medical-surgical nursing care to a diverse adult patient population
• Navy blue scrubs required
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates are not accepted; must live more than 70 miles from the facility
• Clinicians cannot work past 1 year as a traveler at this facility and must take a 6-month break before returning
