Description
American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for a night shift acute care hospital position, requiring 2-5 years of experience and open to first-time travelers.
Details
- Acute care setting in an inpatient Respiratory Therapy department
- Patient population includes adults across all floors, pediatrics, and NICU
- RTs covering pediatric floors also cover adults, while adult floor RTs do not cover pediatrics
- Performs 36-42 treatments per 12-hour shift or 12-14 every 4 hours
- Manages RT equipment, treatments, transport, and ABGs
- Assists with intubation only, does not perform independently
- Uses Draeger vents for adults and Servo U vents for pediatrics
- Additional equipment includes V60 BiPAPs, Vapotherm high flow, Optiflow, Philips Cough Assist, ResMed home CPAP, HillRom Vest machines, and Hill-Rom Metaneb
- NAVA (Neurally Adjusted Ventilatory Assist) skills required on Servo vents for NICU coverage
- EPIC EMR used
- Night shift, 12-hour shifts from 7p-7a
- Every other weekend required
- First to float among staff
- May float to two additional area medical centers
- No call or standby call requirements
- Lead Respiratory Therapist available on each shift for resource support, covering ED and daily staffing
- Manager and Supervisor available during day shifts
- Typically staffed with 15-20 RTs on days and 10-12 on nights
- Unit/department-specific orientation typically 2-3 shifts depending on assigned areas
Requirements
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience required for RRT-certified candidates
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience required for CRT-certified candidates
- RRT preferred, CRT accepted with sufficient experience
- BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications required
- License required if applicable
- EPIC EMR experience preferred
- Driver's license required for consideration
- Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including dates of employment and rehire eligibility
- First-time travelers will be considered
Additional Information
- Any clean, professional scrub color accepted
- Required to work if scheduled during a holiday
- Scheduling is determined by the facility scheduler based on need; blocked scheduling or special scheduling requests are not accepted
- No local candidates accepted due to 50-mile radius rule
- Permanent employees must be separated from the facility for at least one year before applying for a travel assignment
