Description
American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a night shift Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit position requiring a WI or compact RN license and at least 1 year of relevant experience.
Details
- Work in the Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit (45 beds) of a Level III Trauma Center and Magnet-designated hospital with 933 beds
- CARF accredited, Stroke Certified Program
- Patient population includes stroke, neuro, TBI, MS, Parkinson's, LVAD, oncology, trach, and transplant cases
- RN patient ratios: Day 1:4-5, Night 1:6-7
- 12-hour night shift schedule, 1900-0700, 36 standard hours per week
- Weekend rotation required approximately every third weekend as needed
- Holiday coverage required approximately every other holiday as needed
- No on-call requirements
- Floating required to all other Med/Surg areas and Inpatient Boarding at a 1:4 ratio, with travelers floated first
- Uses Epic EMR (preferred), Alaris pumps, and Pyxis medication system
- Utilizes Hoyer lifts, ceiling lifts, and sit-to-stand lifts
- Support staff includes charge nurse (may carry patient assignment), Health Unit Coordinator (0600-2230), 24/7 hospitalist, respiratory therapy, and phlebotomy
Requirements
- Active WI or compact RN license required
- Current BLS certification required
- Minimum 1 year of recent core experience in the unit specialty area
- Skills required include IV pump management, IV insertion (central, PICC, midline catheter care), tube feeding pump operation, GI/PEG/NG tube management and insertion, wound vac and wound care, indwelling catheter insertion and care, trach care and suctioning, laryngectomy care, drain care, and management of behavioral issues
- Epic EMR experience required
- Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
- Candidate's middle name or initial, date of birth, and last 4 digits of SSN required for consideration
Additional Information
- Deliver comprehensive rehabilitative nursing care to patients with complex neurological and medical conditions
- 8-hour orientation provided
- Facility adheres to a fatigue policy limiting staff, including travelers, to no more than 60 hours per week or 5 consecutive 12-hour shifts
- Scrub color is flexible, though camo, denim, and crocs are not permitted; appearance guidelines provided at orientation
- Free parking available in designated areas
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Former employees of Advocate Health or its subsidiaries must be separated for at least 12 months before becoming eligible for a travel assignment
- Local candidates accepted at the same rate with no radius restrictions
- All requested time off (RTO) must be approved through the Nurse Manager
