Description
American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist (RRT or CRT) with at least 1 year of experience for a 12-hour night shift contract at a Level III Trauma Center in Milwaukee, WI.
Details
- Level III Trauma Center, Level III NICU, Magnet-designated, and Comprehensive Stroke Center with 933 beds
- Patient population is mostly geriatric and adult, with some pediatric patients seen in the ED
- Typical caseload is 10-15 patients for general floor assignments and 6-8 patients for ICU assignments
- 12-hour night shift schedule with 36 standard hours per week
- Weekend rotation is every other weekend
- No on-call requirements
- Floats to all units within the hospital
- Uses Epic EMR and Pyxis for medication dispensing
- Unit-specific equipment includes AVEA vents, Servo U vents, LPU 1200 vents, Parapack vents for MRI, and Hamilton vents for transport
Requirements
- Active RRT or CRT license required if applicable
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 1 year of core work experience in respiratory therapy required
- Skills required include vent management, CPAP, BiPAP, nebulizer treatments, a-line placement, assisting with intubation, vent weaning, extubation, and ABGs
- Epic EMR experience required
- Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN required for consideration
Additional Information
- Work alongside other RTs, floor RNs, and unit management/leadership for support
- Day shift staffing includes 13-15 RTs for reference on department size
- Facility orientation includes NEO and at least one shift to learn unit flow
- Holiday coverage assigned as needed
- Up to 7 days of RTO may be approved during the assignment
- Block scheduling is not accommodated
- Staff must adhere to a fatigue policy limiting work to no more than 60 hours per week or 5 consecutive 12-hour shifts
- Overtime may be available depending on facility needs
- Scrubs must be a solid, professional color with no graphics, logos, or designs
- Free parking is available
- First-time travelers may be considered upon review
- Local candidates are accepted at the same pay rate with no radius restrictions
- Former employees of Advocate Health or its subsidiaries must have been separated for at least 12 months to be eligible
