Description
American Traveler is hiring a RN for a Med/Surg Tele unit requiring an active Ohio or compact RN license and at least 1 year of acute care experience.
Details
- Work on a Med/Surg Tele unit within a teaching hospital
- 13-week assignment on day shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
- Some weekend shifts required
- Uses EPIC EMR for charting
- May float to lower acuity units as needed
- Patient population includes neurological, psychiatric, and substance withdrawal cases
Requirements
- Active Ohio RN license or compact license required in hand at time of consideration
- Minimum 1 year of strong acute care nursing experience required
- Current BLS, ACLS, and IV certifications required
- EPIC EMR experience preferred
- Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
- Experience with chest tubes (Emerson/PleurEvac), oxygen administration, cardiac monitoring, and dysrhythmia management required
- Skilled in starting and maintaining IVs, peripheral line care, and PICC line management
- Strong communication, critical thinking, and multitasking skills required
- 2 professional references required, including at least one from a Manager/Director or Supervisor; Charge RN acceptable as second reference; no coworker references accepted
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include starting and managing IVs, administering medications, monitoring vitals, patient education, and collaborating with the care team
- Must follow hospital policies including isolation precautions and PPE use
- Participates in rapid response and code team activations as needed
- Local candidates accepted at the same rate
- RTO must be submitted and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
- Former employees eligible for a travel assignment after being away from the facility for 6 months or more
- Current employees are ineligible to be hired as a traveler at this health system
- Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly after signing contract due to strict credentialing timelines
- Travel experience is a plus but not required, making this role open to first-time travelers
