Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for an 18-bed Acute Neurosurgery and ENT unit requiring at least one year of nursing experience and a NC or compact RN license.

Details

• 18-bed acute post-op Neurosurgery and ENT unit in a hospital setting
• Cares for neurosurgery patients including brain and spinal surgeries, trauma, cancer, stroke, and intracranial bleeds
• Cares for ENT surgery patients including head and neck malignancies, cancer, infection, and procedures involving the head, mouth, tongue, jaw, thyroid, and oropharynx
• Patient ratio of 1:5
• Night shift schedule from 7:00pm to 7:00am
• 36 hours per week, 12-hour shifts, 3 days per week (0.9 FTE)
• Every other weekend required
• Every other holiday required
• No on-call responsibilities
• May be required to function as charge nurse as needed, with training provided

Requirements

• Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
• Current BLS certification (AHA or ARC) required
• NIHSS certification required
• Minimum one year of nursing experience required
• Nursing Diploma, ADN, or ASN from an accredited nursing program required
• BSN or MSN from an accredited nursing program preferred

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive clinical nursing care to complex neurosurgical and ENT patients using the nursing process
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to plan, implement, and evaluate patient care
• Perform bedside point-of-care testing as required by the patient care plan
• Assess patient and family learning needs and provide relevant patient education
• Participate in discharge planning, especially for patients at high risk or with unusual teaching needs
• Contribute to unit goals and performance improvement activities
• Promote a safe, clean, and secure hospital environment
• Reports to the Nurse Manager/Director
