Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Operating Room position requiring an active Iowa or compact RN license and 24 months of current OR experience.
Details
- Level I trauma center hospital setting with 16 operating suites, typically running 12-14 rooms
- OR unit supports service lines including cardiac/PV, neuro, ortho trauma, robotics, gyn, uro, general, pediatrics, transplants, ENT and plastics
- 1:1 patient ratios with an average caseload of 35-50 cases per day and turnover expectations under 20 minutes
- Uses 3 DaVinci robots, Stealth technology for neuro navigation, and Synthes or Stryker equipment for ortho trauma
- EPIC EMR experience required within the previous 3 years
- Schedule is Monday-Friday, 4x10-hour day shifts with a 6:30 AM start and rotating day off, 40 hours/week
- Call requirements include one overnight per week and three weekends per 13-week contract, with weekend call running from end of Friday shift until 6:30 AM Monday
- Floating required across multiple campuses (Iowa Methodist MC, Iowa Lutheran, and Iowa Methodist)
- Scrubs are provided
Requirements
- Active Iowa RN license or compact/multistate license required
- Current BLS certification (AHA or ARC) required
- Minimum 24 months of current operating room experience required, with hospital/medical center experience prioritized
- Circulating experience required; scrub experience highly preferred
- Required case experience in General, DaVinci Robotics, Pediatrics, and Trauma
- Highly preferred additional experience in Neurology, Orthopedics (trauma), Gynecology, Urology, Transplants, Plastics, ENT, and Vascular cases
- Trauma Level II experience required; Trauma Level I experience highly preferred
- EPIC EMR experience within the previous 3 years required
- Must have completed a travel assignment within the previous 15 months
- Valid driver's license required for consideration
- Professional reference from a charge nurse, supervisor, nurse manager, director, CNO, or COO within the past 24 months preferred
Additional Information
- Provide circulating and/or scrub support across a high-volume, multi-specialty OR service line
- Work as part of a team supporting trauma, robotic, and specialty surgical cases in a Level I trauma center
- Holiday coverage required for 1-2 of 3 upcoming summer holidays (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day) unless the unit is closed
- First-time travelers are not eligible for this assignment
- Candidates who were previously employed by the health system (FTE or PRN) may be ineligible depending on separation policy details
- Local candidates may be considered under a radius rule, which may impact bill rate
