Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Operating Room RN for a Level II trauma center requiring 24 months of OR experience and an active IA or compact RN license.

Details

• Operating Room unit at a regional medical center with 16 OR suites, typically running 12-14 rooms
• Level I trauma center with space reserved for trauma cases
• Average caseload of 35-50 cases per day with turnover expectations under 20 minutes
• Service lines include cardiac/PV, neuro, ortho (primarily trauma), robotics, gyn, uro, general, pediatrics, and transplants, with smaller volumes of ENT and plastics
• Utilizes 3 DaVinci robots, Stealth technology for neuro navigation, and primarily Synthes or Stryker for ortho trauma cases
• Both scrub and circulate responsibilities preferred
• Patient ratio of 1:1
• Day shift schedule, Monday-Friday, 4x10s with 0630 start time and rotating day off, 40 hrs/week
• Weekend call required three times per 13-week contract, from end of shift Friday until 0630 Monday
• One overnight call shift required per week
• Required to float across multiple campuses including Iowa Methodist MC, Iowa Lutheran, and Iowa Methodist
• Scrubs provided
• Holiday rotation required

Requirements

• Active IA RN license or compact/multistate license required
• BLS certification (AHA or ARC) required
• Minimum 24 months of current operating room experience required
• Circulating/operating room experience required
• Scrub experience highly preferred, including orthopedic scrubbing experience
• Required case experience in General, DaVinci Robotics, Pediatrics, and Trauma
• Additional experience in Neurology, Orthopedics (trauma), Gynecology, Urology, Transplants, Plastics, ENT, or Vascular highly preferred
• EPIC EMR experience within the previous 3 years required
• Trauma Level II experience required; Trauma Level I experience highly preferred
• Valid driver's license required for consideration
• Professional reference from a supervisor, charge nurse, manager, director, CNO, or COO within the past 24 months preferred

Additional Information

• Perform both scrub and circulating duties in a high-volume, fast-paced OR environment
• Hospital/medical center OR experience will be prioritized
• Required to work 1-2 of the upcoming winter holidays unless the unit is closed
• Must have completed a travel assignment within the previous 15 months; first-time travelers will not be considered
• Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
• Past UPH employees (FTE or PRN) who have worked travel assignments at other facilities within the past 12 months are not eligible
