Description
American Traveler is hiring a RN for a Surgical/Transplant unit requiring acute care surgical floor experience and an active OK or compact RN license.
Details
- >hospital setting on a Surgical/Transplant unit
- Mixed stepdown and acute care floor caring for post-surgical kidney, liver, and pancreas transplant patients as well as pre-transplant patients undergoing evaluation
- Patients require close monitoring for infection, rejection, and timely medication delivery
- Not a PACU or OR position
- Nurses may be assigned to either Med/Surg or Stepdown patients depending on staffing needs
- ICU nurses floated to the unit during shortages will be assigned Stepdown patients based on acuity
- Night shift schedule, 12-hour shifts, 3 days per week, 36 hours weekly
Requirements
- Active RN license issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing or a current multistate compact RN license (eNLC)
- Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Minimum of 1 year of RN experience required
- Acute care surgical floor experience required
- Stepdown/PCU experience required
- ENT and/or transplant experience preferred
- Preceptor and charge nurse experience preferred
- Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited program required
- BSN or higher from a Board Approved Program preferred
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Basic computer skills
Additional Information
- Provide direct nursing care to an assigned group of surgical and transplant patients
- Document patient responses to nursing interventions and communicate changes in physician orders
- Assist physicians with examinations and minor diagnostic procedures
- Monitor physiological data and intervene as needed
- Administer medications and manage IV infusions and blood products
- Educate patients and families on care plans, hospital procedures, and discharge planning
- Delegate tasks to support staff as appropriate
- Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be considered
- Travelers may extend only once for a maximum of 26 weeks, after which a 6-month separation is required before reapplying
- Compliance deadlines are strictly enforced, with no flexibility on start dates once booked
