Description
American Traveler is hiring a Night Shift RN for a high-acuity Labor and Delivery unit requiring 2 years of L&D experience and WA/compact RN licensure.

- Works in a Level III Labor and Delivery unit within a hospital offering comprehensive maternity services
- High-risk perinatal care setting with 19 L&D beds, 10 antepartum beds, 30 postpartum beds, 3 ORs, 2 PACU bays, and a 7-bay triage area
- Facility averages 200-300 deliveries per month
- Target staffing ratios include 1:1 in labor, 1:3 couplets in postpartum with CNA support, and 1:2-3 in antepartum
- Unit supported by CNAs, surgical techs, CRNAs, delivering providers, and Health Unit Coordinators around the clock
- Night shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
- Weekend shifts required
- Floating to Postpartum required
- No call requirements
- Uses Epic EMR
Requirements
- Active WA or compact RN license required at time of consideration
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required, following AWHONN standards
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate or Relias Fetal Monitoring
- AWHONN Advanced certification preferred
- Epic EMR experience required
- Must be able to perform sterile vaginal exams (SVE)
- Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and administration of blood and blood products
- Experience assisting with high-risk and vaginal deliveries
- Experience circulating for and recovering from C-sections
- Experience managing labor and delivery medications including antihypertensives, Magnesium Sulfate, Pitocin, and Terbutaline
- Experience with neonatal care in the delivery room including APGAR scoring and neonatal resuscitation
- Experience with antepartum, postpartum, and newborn care and assessments
- Experience with fetal monitoring including external and internal methods
- Experience caring for patients with high-risk conditions such as pre-eclampsia, HELLP syndrome, and preterm labor
Additional Information
- Provide comprehensive nursing care across labor, delivery, antepartum, and postpartum units
- Support high-risk perinatal patients including those with pregnancy induced hypertension, postpartum hemorrhage, and multiple gestations
- Assist with pain management including epidural and nitrous oxide administration
- Provide newborn care including thermoregulation, phototherapy, and discharge teaching to parents
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including CRNAs, delivering providers, surgical techs, and CNAs
- Must commit to working 3 of 5 designated holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
- All requested time off must be submitted at the time of application for consideration
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates are not accepted for this position
- Candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
- Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a travel candidate
- Any scrub color is acceptable except reddish orange
- Parking is provided at no cost to travelers
- Travelers may be required to float between sister facilities as needed
- Two supervisory references covering at least 1 year of experience within the last 3 years are required for consideration
