Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring 2 years of L&D experience and AWHONN/fetal monitoring certification.
Details
- Level III high-risk perinatal unit within a Level II Trauma Center hospital
- Unit includes 19 labor and delivery beds, 10 antepartum beds, 30 postpartum beds, 3 ORs, 2 PACU bays, and a 7-bay triage area
- Facility supports 200-300 deliveries per month
- Target staffing ratios are 1:1 in labor, 1:3 couplet care in postpartum with CNA support, and 1:2-3 in antepartum
- Night shift schedule, 4x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:30
- Weekend shifts required
- Floating to Postpartum required
- No on-call responsibilities
- Uses Epic EMR
Requirements
- Active WA or Compact RN license required, must be in hand at time of consideration
- Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience required, following AWHONN standards
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate or Relias Fetal Monitoring
- AWHONN Advanced certification preferred
- Epic EMR experience required
- Sterile vaginal exam (SVE) skill required
- Experience with labor and delivery management, high-risk delivery, vaginal delivery, and C-section circulation required
- Experience with medication administration including Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, and antihypertensives required
- Experience with external fetal monitoring (EFM) and non-stress tests (NST) required
- Experience in postpartum care including couplet care, fundus/lochia/perineum care, and C-section recovery required
Additional Information
- Provide high-risk perinatal nursing care across labor, antepartum, and postpartum units
- Support and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including surgical techs, CNAs, delivering providers, CRNAs, and health unit coordinators
- Assist with high-risk and vaginal deliveries, C-section circulation and recovery, and neonatal care in the delivery room
- Provide newborn care including APGAR scoring, newborn assessment, and discharge teaching to parents
- Manage patients with conditions such as pre-eclampsia, HELLP syndrome, preterm labor, and postpartum hemorrhage
- Scrubs of any color are permitted except reddish-orange
- Parking is facility-paid
- Must commit to working 3 of 5 major holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day
- All RTO requests must be submitted upfront at the time of consideration
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Travel experience is not required
- Local candidates within 50 miles may be accepted at a lower bill rate
- Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
- Two supervisory references covering 1 year of experience within the last 3 years are required
- Travelers may be expected to float between sister facilities as needed
