Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor and Delivery position at a Level III high-risk perinatal unit requiring 2 years of L&D experience and a WA or compact RN license.

Details

• ensensive maternity services with a Level II NICU
• 19 labor and delivery beds, 10 antepartum beds, 30 postpartum beds, 3 ORs, 2 PACU, and a 7-bay triage area
• High-risk perinatal patient population with 200-300 facility births per month
• Target staffing ratios of 1:1 in labor, 1:3 couplets in postpartum with CNA support, and 1:2-3 in antepartum
• Triage staffed with 3 skilled RNs per shift, supported by surgical techs, CNAs, delivering providers, CRNAs, and Health Unit Coordinators
• Day shift schedule, 4x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
• Weekend shifts required
• Floating to Postpartum required
• No on-call responsibilities
• Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

• Active WA or compact RN license required, must be in hand at time of consideration
• Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required, following AWHONN standards
• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate or Relias Fetal Monitoring
• AWHONN Advanced certification preferred
• Epic EMR experience required
• Experience with sterile vaginal exams (SVE) required
• Experience in facilities with 200+ deliveries preferred; candidates with 100-200 deliveries experience will also be considered
• Skills required include IV therapy/phlebotomy, administration of blood and blood products, labor and delivery management, assisting with high-risk and vaginal deliveries, and circulating for C-sections
• Two supervisory references required, covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive nursing care across labor, antepartum, and postpartum units within a high-risk perinatal program
• Assist with high-risk and vaginal deliveries, C-section circulation, and postpartum recovery care
• Support neonatal care in the delivery room including APGAR scoring, cord sampling, and newborn assessments
• Manage medication administration including antihypertensives, insulin drips, magnesium sulfate therapy, and Pitocin
• Provide postpartum care including couplet care, fundus/lochia/perineum care, and breastfeeding support
• Monitor and manage fetal heart rate patterns using external and internal fetal monitoring
• Care for patients with conditions such as pre-eclampsia, HELLP syndrome, preterm labor, and VBAC management
• Any scrub color is acceptable except reddish-orange
• Facility-paid parking provided
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Travel experience is not required
• Must commit to working 3 of 5 designated holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day
• All requested time off must be submitted at the time of application for consideration
• Local candidates are not accepted; candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility for travel rate eligibility
• Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler
• Travelers may be required to float between sister facilities near the contracted location
