Description
American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a hospital position requiring at least 1 year of experience and Epic proficiency, with first-time travelers welcome to apply.
Details
- Work in the Medical Surgical unit of a hospital setting with remote telemetry capability
- Care for adult to geriatric patients with diagnoses including diabetes, post-op, wound vacs, and bariatrics
- Patient ratio of 1:5-6 on a 33-bed unit with an average daily census of 28
- Uses Epic (required), Pyxis, and SBAR communication systems
- Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
- Every other weekend required unless specified otherwise
- Floating required within facility and scope of practice as needed
- Call requirements include every other weekend, holidays as needed, and relief charge duties
- Navy blue scrubs required
Requirements
- Active RN license (GA or Compact) required at time of consideration
- Current BLS certification required
- Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg nursing experience required
- Experience with 1:5-6 patient ratios required
- Epic charting system experience required
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
- Skills in IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, and PICC line management
- Respiratory skills including chest tube management, HFNC, and ABG interpretation
- Wound care/wound vac management experience
- IV insulin protocol experience preferred
- Cardiac monitoring and remote telemetry experience
- Experience with pre/post hemodialysis management and renal failure care
- Two supervisory references (Manager or above) highly preferred
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care including IV management, wound care, and respiratory support for a diverse Med/Surg population
- Participate in rapid response and code team activations as needed
- Manage surgical drains, PCA medications, and colostomy/ileostomy care
- Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract, with all RTO finalized at time of submission
- No RTO requests permitted during orientation week or after offer acceptance
- Holiday coverage required based on number of major holidays falling within the assignment period
- Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, and New Year's Eve/Day
- Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Previous Piedmont employees (perm/per diem/FCSS) must be separated from all Piedmont facilities for one full year before applying as a traveler
- Travelers previously unable to return to a Piedmont facility must complete one successful assignment elsewhere before rebooking
