Description

American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with 1+ year of experience and an active LA license for a night shift position at a Level I trauma hospital.

Details

  • Respiratory/Neuro Diagnostics unit in a Level I trauma hospital setting
  • Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 18:30 to 7:00
  • Weekend requirement every other weekend
  • Holiday coverage required
  • No call requirement
  • No floating requirement
  • Epic charting system experience preferred
  • Uses Puritan Bennett 840 and 980 ventilators, Phillips V60 BiPAP, and Pneutron, Newport, and Parapac transport ventilators
  • Specialized procedures include Nitric Oxide therapy, ECMO, and bedside bronchoscopies
  • Gray scrubs required

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of experience required
  • Active LA state license required at time of consideration (license required if applicable)
  • CRTs will be accepted
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • RRT certification required
  • Level I Trauma experience preferred
  • Experience with adult critical care and emergency department settings
  • Skilled in ventilator management including BiPAP, CPAP, weaning from mechanical ventilation, and troubleshooting high pressure alarms
  • Proficient in airway management including extubation, suctioning, and tracheostomy care
  • Experience with medication delivery systems including MDI, nebulizer, and aerosol setups
  • Knowledge of arterial blood gas (ABG) interpretation preferred
  • Experience with high flow nasal cannula and trach collar oxygen therapy

Additional Information

  • Provide respiratory care and neuro diagnostic support to adult critical care and emergency department patients
  • Administer a range of respiratory medications and manage ventilator settings for critically ill patients
  • Perform pulmonary hygiene, airway suctioning, and tracheostomy management as part of daily patient care
  • Work within a Level I trauma hospital environment
  • Strict 5-day maximum RTO policy
  • Local candidates within 75 miles accepted at local rate
  • Previous permanent staff must be separated from the health system for at least 1 year before being eligible for travel assignments
