Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a MICU night shift position requiring EPIC experience and EKG telemetry competency.
Details
- 40-bed, fast-paced, high-acuity Medical ICU
- Patient ratios targeted at 1:2-3
- Night shift, 4x12 hour shifts from 19:00-7:30
- 13 or 18 week winter contract options available for a 36 or 48 hour schedule
- Bedside procedures include endoscopy, bronchoscopy, trach, and G-tube placement
- Frequent immediate post-op patient recovery
- Uses specialized equipment including ICP monitoring, arterial lines, Flotrac monitoring, BIS, and train of four
- Required to work every other weekend and every other holiday
- Traveler will be first to float at facility's discretion, potentially to other campuses within 10-15 miles of main campus
- Floating may include support of high-risk respiratory/COVID units
Requirements
- Active OH RN license or compact RN license required (license in hand not required to apply, but must be obtained before contract start)
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 1.5 years of recent experience in a large hospital setting
- Level 1 trauma center experience preferred; Level 2 experience accepted
- EPIC EMR experience required
- Must be able to read and interpret EKG telemetry strips
- Must pass an online EKG telemetry competency assessment prior to starting
- Must be fit-tested for N95 respirator prior to working on HRRU unit unless PAPR is provided
- Trach care experience required
- Skills required include IV therapy, central line care, PICC line management, blood product administration, ventilator management, ABG interpretation, and titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
- Experience with continuous IV sedation and procedural sedation monitoring required
- No prior disciplinary action on RN license accepted
Additional Information
- Provide critical care nursing to high-acuity ICU patients including post-surgical and respiratory patients
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Up to 24 hours of orientation modules included as part of assignment
- Maximum of 14 days RTO allowed per contract; must be requested at time of application and cannot be added after offer
- Local radius is 50 miles; local candidates are not accepted
- Facility reserves the right to cancel up to 2 shifts per 13-week contract due to low census
- Previous perm/PRN staff or prior agency travelers not extended due to tenure must wait 6 months before reapplying, subject to facility rehire approval
- First-time travelers may be considered
- Travelers are not eligible for facility employee incentive programs
- Teaching hospital, Level I, and Level II trauma experience preferred
