Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PCU/Oncology position requiring OH or compact RN license and prior stepdown/PCU experience.
Details
- >Works in a 35-bed medical and radiation oncology unit specializing in oncology and hematology patients
- Mixed acuity unit caring for both Med Surg and Advanced Care patients
- Common skills include blood products, chemotherapy, drips, PCAs, and wound care
- Patient ratios targeted at 1:4, with potential up to 1:5-6
- Night shift schedule, 4x12 hours from 19:00 to 7:30
- 36 or 48 hour weekly schedule with no block scheduling
- 13 or 18 week winter contract options available
- Required to float to all Stepdown/Advanced Care units, including high-risk respiratory/COVID units
- May float to Premier's main campus (Dayton), south campus (Centerville, less than 10 miles away), or north campus (Englewood, less than 15 miles away)
- Must work every other weekend and every other holiday
- Uses Epic EMR system
Requirements
- >Active OH or compact RN license required
- Current BLS and ACLS certification with ability to read and interpret cardiac strips required
- OCN certification preferred
- Minimum 1.5 years of nursing experience required
- SD/PCU experience specifically required; ICU experience does not qualify
- Oncology experience required
- Sickle cell experience and chemo certification preferred but not required
- Trauma Level I and teaching hospital experience preferred
- Epic charting experience required
- Must pass an online EKG telemetry competency assessment prior to starting the assignment
- Must be fitted for N95 respirator prior to working on the HRRU unit unless PAPR is provided
- Skilled in interpretation of dysrhythmias, IV therapy/infusions, and starting/maintaining IVs
Additional Information
- RNs with ONS certification administer chemotherapy on this unit
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Traveler will be prioritized for floating at facility's discretion, potentially to other specialty clusters as medically appropriate
- Facility may cancel up to 3 shifts per 13-week contract due to low census
- Facility may cancel the contract with 2 weeks' notice without fee or fine
- Travelers are not eligible for facility employee incentives
- Maximum of 14 days RTO allowed per contract, must be requested at time of submission with no changes after offer
- Local candidates are not accepted; must reside outside a 50-mile radius
- Candidates with any past license disciplinary action will not be accepted
- Previous PERM/PRN staff or prior agency travelers not extended due to tenure must wait 6 months before reapplying, with facility rehire approval required
