Description

American Traveler is hiring a PCU RN for a night shift travel assignment requiring 1 year of experience, ACLS/BLS/NIHSS certifications, and Epic experience.

Details

• Progressive Care Unit (PCU) setting within a hospital
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00-7:00
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• Cardiac telemetry monitoring and emergency response required
• Manages patients with COPD, CAD, CHF, AFib, and Sepsis
• Performs skills including starting IVs, chest tubes, cardiac drips, and bedside cardioversion
• Epic EMR experience required
• Navy scrubs required

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 1 year of PCU/telemetry experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Epic charting system experience required
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide cardiac telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and emergency response including use of Rapid Response/Code teams
• Perform IV therapy, phlebotomy, and manage central, peripheral, and PICC lines
• Manage respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, high flow nasal cannula, and tracheostomy care
• Skilled in wound care, isolation precautions/PPE, and pre/post cardiac catheterization care
• Manage cardiac and vasoactive drips, including heparin protocols
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Candidates residing within 70 miles of the facility are considered local and will not be accepted for this position
• Travelers must complete an OSHA Respirator Clearance and pass fit testing, which requires being clean-shaven for proper mask seal
• Medical or religious exemptions for fit testing are not accepted
• Clinicians cannot work more than 1 year as a traveler at this facility without taking a 6-month break before returning
