Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a CVICU position requiring at least 1 year of dedicated CVICU experience and Level 1 Trauma background.
Details
- Work in the Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) of a hospital setting
- Care for post cardiac surgery, pre/post cardiac cath/intervention, and complex cardiovascular patients
- Unit typically runs 1:2 patient ratios in a 36-bed unit
- Uses Impella, Pulmonary Artery Line/Swan Ganz, and thermodilution PA catheter monitoring
- Day shift schedule, 4x12 hours from 7:00 to 19:30
- 36- or 48-hour shift options available
- Required to work every other weekend and holiday
- Floating required to other units or nearby Premier Health campuses (Main, South, or North) based on skillset and census
Requirements
- Active RN license (Ohio or Compact) accepted; Ohio license not required in hand at signing
- Minimum 1 year of dedicated CVICU staff experience required
- Level 1 Trauma experience preferred
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Must be able to read and interpret EKG strips and pass an online EKG/dysrhythmia competency assessment before starting
- Experience with A-lines, ventilators, drips, sheaths, dialysis, and ABG draws required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Skilled in IV therapy, arterial line management, central/PICC line care, and blood product administration
- Experience managing ventilated patients, BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, and ABG interpretation
- Skilled in titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips and continuous IV sedation
- Experience with IABP, TAVR, sheath removal, and post cardiac surgery care preferred
- Travel experience preferred but not required
Additional Information
- Provide critical care nursing to complex cardiovascular ICU patients, including those post cardiac surgery and cardiac catheterization
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Facility may cancel up to 2 shifts per 13-week contract due to low census
- Facility may cancel contract with 2 weeks' notice
- Maximum of 14 days RTO allowed per contract, must be requested at time of submission with no changes after offer
- Local candidates within 50 miles are not accepted for consideration
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Previous PERM/PRN staff or non-extended agency staff must wait 6 months before reapplying as a traveler, subject to facility rehire approval
- Lab work and EKG/dysrhythmia exam must be completed within 72 hours of signing contract
