Description
American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist with recent Level 1 or 2 trauma experience for a 13-week night shift position at an acute care hospital.
Details
- Acauma Level 1 acute care hospital setting
- Inpatient coverage across all hospital floors and areas
- Patient population ranges from neonates to geriatrics
- Utilizes Epic EMR
- Performs EKGs, bedside bronchoscopies, and bedside spirometry
- Equipment includes Drager, Servo I, and Carefusion ventilators (Heliox and NICU use only)
- BiPAP equipment includes Vision, V60, V30, and Respironics S/T
- High flow therapy via Airvo2
- Hospitalist or Intensivist coverage in house 24/7
- Lead RT present on each shift
- 12-hour night shifts on a 7pm-7am schedule with team scheduling
- Weekend requirements include every third weekend for days and every other weekend for nights
- Holiday coverage rotates with permanent staff
- Floating required to different areas throughout the hospital in the RT capacity
- 3 shifts of unit-specific orientation required
Requirements
- , experience level 1 or 2 trauma center experience required
- Minimum 1 year of experience required
- Current BLS (AHA) certification required
- Current ACLS certification required
- Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or RRT via NBRC required
- NRP and PALS certifications preferred
- License required if applicable
- Driver's license required at time of submission
- Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including dates of employment and rehire eligibility
- Artificial fingernails prohibited in all patient care areas
Additional Information
- Provide respiratory care across multiple patient care areas, working with a variety of acuity levels each shift
- Collaborate closely with RT, provider, and nursing teams
- Strong time management, flexibility, adaptability, communication, and teamwork skills contribute to success in this role
- Willingness to learn and work in different levels of patient care daily is valued
- Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility and may not have been employed full time, part time, or PRN with any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI or Dignity, within the past year
- Up to 7 days of requested time off must be submitted upfront for the 13-week contract, with no additional time off approved afterward
- First-time travelers may be considered for this position
