Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Medical Surgical position requiring a TX or compact RN license and at least 2 years of experience.

• , 3x12hr days from 6:45-19:15 in the Medical Surgical unit (2W)
• Patient ratio of 1:5
• 4/4 week schedule with weekend requirements: 4 of 8 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule (Sat/Sun for days)
• Floating required to 3W and other units as needed
• Any charting system experience required

Requirements

• Active TX or compact RN license required
• Current BLS certification required; ACLS, PALS, and CPI preferred
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Nursys verification required
• Prior travel nursing experience preferred
• Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, HFNC, oxygen administration, and suctioning
• Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and PICC line management preferred
• Experience managing GI conditions including bowel obstruction, ostomy care, and feeding tubes
• Experience with renal failure and continuous bladder irrigation preferred
• Experience with CVA and substance withdrawal patients
• Experience administering heparin and PCA medications
• Skilled in wound care/wound vac, cardiac monitoring, and dysrhythmia management
• Telemetry remote monitoring experience preferred
• Experience with rapid response/code teams preferred
• MS/Tele setting experience preferred
• Thyroidectomy experience preferred

• Located in Kerrville, Texas's wine country, about 1 hour outside San Antonio
• Facility conducts its own mandatory drug screen upon arrival, including marijuana testing, with automatic cancellation for positive results
• Must reside within a 50-mile radius of the facility to be considered; local candidates are not accepted
• Facility housing available
• Willing to work through the holidays, with a requirement to work 2 of 3 major holidays if staying through the holiday season, or Thanksgiving if not
• Must work 3 of the 5 winter holidays
• No first-time travelers considered for this position
• RTO requests reviewed on a case-by-case basis and should generally be kept under 7-10 days
• Travel pairs accepted on a case-by-case basis
