Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring telemetry experience and an active OH or compact RN license.

Details

• Work in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / MS-Tele / IMC / Stepdown setting of a hospital
• Day shift (3x12 hours, 7:00-19:00) or Night shift (3x12 hours, 19:30-7:30) schedules available
• Required to work every other weekend (Friday & Saturday nights)
• 13-week contract length (or per assignment)
• Epic charting system experience preferred

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required, though candidates with 1 year may be considered pending manager review
• Previous telemetry experience required
• Experience with IV insulin protocols and insulin drips
• Strong cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation and management skills
• Experience with Rapid Response/Code teams
• Experience with isolation precautions and PPE
• Experience with oxygen administration and nasal cannula
• Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, and peripheral line care/management
• Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• Two professional references required, with at least one from a Manager/Director or formal leadership role and the second from a Charge RN or higher (no coworker references accepted)

Additional Information

• Provide cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and emergency response care to PCU patients
• Perform telemetry monitoring on the unit
• Complete Ohio fingerprinting process urgently upon signing contract due to strict compliance timelines
• Candidates outside Ohio but within driving distance must travel to a fingerprinting location in Ohio; those at extreme distances will receive a mailed fingerprinting packet
• Local candidates are accepted at the same rate
• Former employees are eligible for a travel assignment once they have been away from the facility for 6 months or more
• Current employees of any Ohio State University hospital location are ineligible to be hired as a traveler
• RTO must be submitted and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
• First-time travelers are not being considered for this position
