Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring telemetry experience and an active OH or compact RN license.
Details
- Work in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / MS-Tele / IMC / Stepdown setting of a hospital
- Day shift (3x12 hours, 7:00-19:00) or Night shift (3x12 hours, 19:30-7:30) schedules available
- Required to work every other weekend (Friday & Saturday nights)
- 13-week contract length (or per assignment)
- Epic charting system experience preferred
Requirements
- Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required, though candidates with 1 year may be considered pending manager review
- Previous telemetry experience required
- Experience with IV insulin protocols and insulin drips
- Strong cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation and management skills
- Experience with Rapid Response/Code teams
- Experience with isolation precautions and PPE
- Experience with oxygen administration and nasal cannula
- Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, and peripheral line care/management
- Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
- Two professional references required, with at least one from a Manager/Director or formal leadership role and the second from a Charge RN or higher (no coworker references accepted)
Additional Information
- Provide cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and emergency response care to PCU patients
- Perform telemetry monitoring on the unit
- Complete Ohio fingerprinting process urgently upon signing contract due to strict compliance timelines
- Candidates outside Ohio but within driving distance must travel to a fingerprinting location in Ohio; those at extreme distances will receive a mailed fingerprinting packet
- Local candidates are accepted at the same rate
- Former employees are eligible for a travel assignment once they have been away from the facility for 6 months or more
- Current employees of any Ohio State University hospital location are ineligible to be hired as a traveler
- RTO must be submitted and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
- First-time travelers are not being considered for this position
