Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring Level II or III trauma experience and TNCC, ENPC/PALS, ACLS, and BLS certifications.

Details

• Hospital-based Emergency Department with 16 beds and 8 hall chairs
• Staffing includes 1 charge nurse, 1 triage nurse, 4-5 nurses, 1 unit secretary, and 1-2 techs per shift
• Patient ratio of 1:4, primarily low acuity ESI 4 & 5, with occasional ratio of 1:6
• Cares for patients across the full acuity spectrum, ESI 5 through 1
• Utilizes cardiac monitors, Baxter IV pumps, HP monitors, and Tonopen equipment
• EMR system is Meditech with vital signs flowing directly into the chart
• Night shift schedule from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• 13-week assignment length

Requirements

• Active TX or compact RN license required
• Minimum 1 year of recent Emergency Department experience required
• Level II or Level III trauma experience required
• Required certifications: TNCC, ENPC or PALS, ACLS, and BLS
• Preferred certifications: CEN or TCRN and CPI
• More than 2 years of ED experience preferred
• No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
• US Social Security Number and date of birth required for consideration (Canadian SSN not accepted)
• One professional reference required

Additional Information

• Perform assessments, documentation, medication administration, wound care, splinting, and IV insertion
• Conduct urine collection and lab draws as part of daily patient care
• Facility is transitioning from a Level IV to a Level II trauma hospital
• Provide timely care for stroke, STEMI, sepsis, and trauma patients
• Mandatory shift huddle at 7am and 7pm unless providing critical care at that time
• EMTALA training is mandatory
• Scrub color of royal blue is preferred
• Team spirit jerseys (e.g., Astros, Cowboys) encouraged on Sundays
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility; local candidates will not be considered
