Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring Level II/III trauma experience and TNCC certification.

Details

• Work in a 16-bed Emergency Department with 8 hall chairs
• Unit is transitioning from a Level IV to a Level II trauma center
• Staffed with 6-7 team members per shift including charge nurse, triage nurse, nurses, unit secretary, and techs
• Patient ratio of 1:4 with low acuity ESI 4 & 5 patients, may take up to 6
• Care provided for ESI level 1 through 5 patients including stroke, STEMI, sepsis, and trauma cases
• Uses cardiac monitors, Baxter IV pumps, HP monitors, and Tonopen equipment
• Meditech EMR with vital signs flowing directly into the chart
• 12-hour day shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
• 13-week assignment length
• Mandatory shift huddle attendance at 7am and 7pm unless providing critical patient care

Requirements

• Active RN license (TX or Compact) currently in hand
• Minimum 1 year of recent Emergency Department experience required
• Level II or Level III trauma experience required
• Current certifications required: TNCC, ENPC or PALS, ACLS, and BLS
• CEN or TCRN and CPI certification preferred
• Greater than 2 years of ED experience preferred
• Skilled in assessments, documentation, medication administration, wound care, splinting, and IV insertion
• Experience with urine collection and lab draws
• US Social Security Number and date of birth required for consideration (no Canadian SSN accepted)
• One professional reference required for consideration
• No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care across the full acuity spectrum from ESI 1 through 5 in a busy ED setting
• Complete EMTALA training as a mandatory requirement
• Royal blue scrubs preferred, with team jersey attire encouraged on Sundays for team spirit
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility; no local candidates accepted
