Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Neuro ICU position requiring Level 1 Trauma and EVD experience along with a valid AZ or compact RN license.

Details

  • 32-bed Neuro ICU within an acute care Level 1 Trauma hospital
  • Patient population includes critical care neuro diagnoses such as cranis, brain tumor removals, ablations, brain biopsies, and complex spine/scoliosis surgeries
  • Patient ratio is 1:2
  • Uses Cerner EMR
  • Uses Phillips telemetry monitors and manages ventilated patients
  • 24/7 respiratory therapy and pharmacy support available
  • Charge nurse role does not carry a patient assignment
  • 12-hour night shifts scheduled 7pm-7am with possible standby assignments
  • Requires 4 total weekend shifts per 4-week period
  • Holiday coverage is worked into core staff rotation
  • Floating required as first priority to ICU, Med-Surg, and Tele units, potentially including other campus locations, with a 4:1 ratio on Tele
  • Floor-specific orientation includes 2 shifts

Requirements

  • , or Active AZ or Compact RN license required
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required in a large (450+ bed) hospital setting
  • Candidates with 18 months of Neuro ICU experience may also be considered
  • Level 1 Trauma experience required
  • EVD (External Ventricular Drain) experience required
  • Strong neuro assessment skills and ICP monitoring experience required
  • Must pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to accepting an offer
  • Must pass a sterile technique competency exam on the first day of orientation covering Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes
  • Copy of driver's license required for consideration

  • Additional educational-based training provided for lifts, restraints, and wound care
  • Scrub color is any non-offensive color or print, with steel grey designated for neuro floors
  • Must have natural hair color and no facial piercings, and men must be clean shaven for respirator fit testing
  • Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility, as verified by driver's license
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Candidates may not have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any facility within the associated health system in the past year
  • Time off requests of 7 days or fewer may qualify for automatic offer consideration, with holiday time off requiring manager approval
