Description
American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Stepdown RN for a night shift contract requiring Med/Surg and Stepdown experience and a compact or Oklahoma RN license.
Details
- Hospital-based position on the Medicine Step Down unit
- Cares for a variety of patients with health conditions ranging from simple to complex
- Night shift schedule, 12-hour shifts, 3 days per week (36 hours weekly)
- Med/Surg and Stepdown experience required for this unit
Requirements
- Active Oklahoma RN license or current multistate compact RN license (eNLC)
- Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Minimum of 1 year of RN experience required
- Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited program required; BSN preferred
- Med/Surg and Stepdown clinical experience required
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Basic computer skills required
Additional Information
- Responsible for an assigned group of patients, including assessment, care planning, and delegation to support staff
- Documents patient responses to nursing interventions and medical treatments, noting changes in physician orders
- Assists physicians with examinations and minor diagnostic procedures
- Monitors physiological data and intervenes as needed
- Administers medications and initiates, regulates, and monitors IV infusions and blood products
- Communicates with patients and families regarding care plans, hospital procedures, and discharge planning
- Refers patient care needs to appropriate personnel as required
- Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible for this position
- Compliance documentation and onboarding requirements must be completed promptly, as start dates cannot be delayed for compliance issues
- Returning travelers may only extend once for a maximum of 26 weeks, after which a 6-month separation is required before reapplying
