Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Stepdown RN for a night shift contract requiring Med/Surg and Stepdown experience and a compact or Oklahoma RN license.

Details

• Hospital-based position on the Medicine Step Down unit
• Cares for a variety of patients with health conditions ranging from simple to complex
• Night shift schedule, 12-hour shifts, 3 days per week (36 hours weekly)
• Med/Surg and Stepdown experience required for this unit

Requirements

• Active Oklahoma RN license or current multistate compact RN license (eNLC)
• Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Minimum of 1 year of RN experience required
• Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited program required; BSN preferred
• Med/Surg and Stepdown clinical experience required
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Basic computer skills required

Additional Information

• Responsible for an assigned group of patients, including assessment, care planning, and delegation to support staff
• Documents patient responses to nursing interventions and medical treatments, noting changes in physician orders
• Assists physicians with examinations and minor diagnostic procedures
• Monitors physiological data and intervenes as needed
• Administers medications and initiates, regulates, and monitors IV infusions and blood products
• Communicates with patients and families regarding care plans, hospital procedures, and discharge planning
• Refers patient care needs to appropriate personnel as required
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible for this position
• Compliance documentation and onboarding requirements must be completed promptly, as start dates cannot be delayed for compliance issues
• Returning travelers may only extend once for a maximum of 26 weeks, after which a 6-month separation is required before reapplying
