Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring Level II or III trauma experience and TNCC, ENPC/PALS, ACLS, and BLS certifications.

Details

• Work in a 16-bed Emergency Department with 8 hall chairs
• Staffing includes 6-7 team members per shift, including charge nurse, triage nurse, nurses, unit secretary, and techs
• Patient ratio of 1:4, primarily low acuity ESI 4 & 5, with occasional ESI 6 patients
• Utilizes cardiac monitors, Baxter IV pumps, HP monitors, Tonopen, and other ED equipment
• EMR system is Meditech with vital signs flowing directly into the chart
• Shift schedule is 7A-7P over a 13-week assignment
• Mandatory shift huddles at 7am and 7pm for all staff unless providing critical care at that time

Requirements

• Active RN license (TX or Compact) currently in hand
• Minimum of 1 year of recent Emergency Department experience required
• Level II or Level III trauma experience required
• Required certifications: TNCC, ENPC or PALS, ACLS, and BLS
• Preferred certifications: CEN or TCRN, and CPI
• Greater than two years of Emergency Department experience preferred
• No gaps in work history equaling 90 days or more within the past 12 months

Additional Information

• Perform assessments, documentation, medication administration, wound care, splinting, and IV insertion
• Conduct urine collection and lab draws while caring for patients across the ESI 1 through 5 spectrum
• Provide timely care for stroke, STEMI, sepsis, and trauma patients
• Facility is transitioning from a Level IV to a Level II trauma hospital
• Mandatory EMTALA training required
• Scrub color is Royal Blue preferred
• Team spirit encouraged on Sundays with sports team jerseys (e.g., Astros, Cowboys)
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility, as local candidates are not accepted
