Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Orthopedics unit position requiring prior travel and Charge RN experience.
Details
- , 29-bed Ortho unit providing care from adulthood through geriatrics to orthopedic and medical surgical patients
- Unit features telemetry monitoring and an on-site physical therapy gym
- High volume patient populations include total joint replacements, fracture repairs, and kyphoplasties
- Moderate volume patient populations include other surgical procedures and inpatient/24-hour observation medical patients
- Patient ratio of 1:5-6
- Schedule consists of 3x12-hour Day shifts, 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
- Required to work every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday)
- No on-call requirements
- Float required as needed to any Cone Health campus
- RNs will be required to work Charge RN shifts as needed
- Uses Epic EMR system
Requirements
- Active RN license (NC or Compact) required and must be in hand at time of consideration
- BLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Previous travel nursing experience required
- Previous Charge RN experience required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Must pass a compliance EKG exam (Pass/Fail, two attempts allowed)
- Skills required include IV therapy/phlebotomy, central line blood draw, peripheral line care, PICC line management, starting and maintaining IVs, BiPAP/CPAP management, nasal cannula and oxygen tank management, tracheostomy care, colostomy/ileostomy management, feeding tube care, continuous bladder irrigation, pre/post hemodialysis management, renal failure care, CVA care, pre/post neurosurgery care, Heparin and PCA administration, telemetry remote monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, isolation precautions/PPE, wound care/wound vac, and surgical drain management
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care to a mixed orthopedic and medical-surgical patient population ranging from adults to geriatrics
- Charge RNs on this unit carry a patient load in a fast-paced environment
- Unit staffing includes a mixture of RNs and LPNs
- Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for the travel pay rate
- Local candidates within 50 miles are not eligible for this position
- RTO must be submitted with the initial application; no post-submission RTO requests will be accepted
