Description
American Traveler is hiring a Travel RN for a Critical Care unit requiring compact or LA RN license and experience with intra-aortic balloon pumps, Impellas, and CRRT.
Details
- Hospital-based Mixed Cardiac and Medical ICU/MedSurgical A unit
- Patient population includes DKA, acute respiratory failure, MIs, CABGs, ventilators, and post-op cardiovascular surgery cases
- Nurse to patient ratio of 2:1 for ICU patients and 4:1 for IMCU patients
- 13-week assignment on day shift from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call requirement
- No floating required
Requirements
- Active RN license in Louisiana or compact license required
- BLS certification via AHA required
- Current ACLS certification via AHA required
- BSN preferred
- 1 year of experience in Critical Care nursing preferred, but new graduates will be considered
- Experience with intra-aortic balloon pumps, Impellas, post-op cardiovascular surgery care, and CRRT required
Additional Information
- Provide independent, complex nursing care utilizing the full nursing process including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation
- Administer medications and treatments while monitoring for side effects and effectiveness
- Address complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families
- Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided
- Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, families, and caregivers
- Newly hired experienced RNs must attend New Nurses Orientation within the first 30 days of hire
- New hires are precepted by a designated trained staff member and must complete organizational and Critical Care department-specific competency validations
- Annual competency verification requirements must be completed
- First-time travelers and new graduates are welcome to apply
- Must reside outside a 50-mile radius to qualify for travel rate, though local candidates may be accepted on select positions
- Returning employees who previously worked at any CHRISTUS facility must have a 6-month separation period before being eligible for a travel assignment
