Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU)/Cardiac Telemetry position requiring at least 1 year of cardiac tele or PCU experience and a NC or compact RN license.

Details

  • community-based teaching hospital with 351 licensed beds, no trauma designation, featuring a Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center
  • Cardiac Telemetry/PCU unit with 18 beds and an average daily census of 18
  • Patient population includes NSTEMI, STEMI, cardiac interventional and electrophysiology procedures, thoracic surgery, heart failure, post stroke, and post open heart surgery patients
  • Cares for patients requiring pharmacological titration of cardiac anti-arrhythmic drips and management of respiratory failure with medium/high flow oxygen or NIPPV
  • RN to patient ratio of 1:3 or 1:4 depending on required interventions
  • Utilizes EPIC EMR, Baxter IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Philips Intellivue monitors in every room
  • Performs cardiac and hemodynamic monitoring, arterial and vascular line management, chest tube/drain care, and post-procedure site care
  • 12-hour night shift schedule from 1900-0730 on a 36-hour work week
  • Every other weekend rotation required
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • Floating required within the critical care division or Intermediate Care unit
  • Schedule cycle repeats every 6 weeks

Requirements

  • active orAct RN license
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
  • Minimum 1 year of cardiac telemetry or PCU experience required
  • EPIC EMR experience required
  • Skills required include cardiac strip and rhythm interpretation, arterial line management, drip titration, and non-invasive ventilator care
  • At least one professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN required for consideration
  • Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
  • Must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year if previously in a permanent position there

  • Orientation includes a 36-hour first week with online CBL training plus a 12-hour unit-specific shift with an RN preceptor
  • Holiday coverage required for 75% of holidays
  • Requests for time off require Resource Team approval
  • Scrub color required is Royal Blue
  • Free parking is available onsite
