Description
American Traveler is hiring a PCU RN for a 13-week night shift float pool position requiring 1-2 years of recent telemetry/PCU experience and a KS or compact RN license.
Details
- Float pool position covering approximately 5 Med/Surg Intermediate/PCU units across the facility and other metro campuses
- No assigned home unit
- Patient population includes cardiac telemetry, neuro stepdown, sepsis, wound care, ETOH, SI, renal failure, AFIB, GIB, stroke, and COVID cases
- Patient ratio of 1:5
- Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 18:45-7:15)
- 8 weekend shifts required per 6-week schedule, combination of Friday/Saturday/Sunday
- Holiday shifts and charge RN assignments as needed
- No on-call requirements
- Uses 12 lead EKG, AirVo, Voalte, and Omnicell equipment
- Utilizes EPIC EMR
- Not open to block scheduling

Requirements
- Active Kansas or Missouri RN license, or compact license in hand at time of consideration
- BLS and NIHSS certifications required; ACLS preferred
- 1 to 2 years of recent specialty experience required, with no employment gaps greater than 90 days in the past year
- Cardiac monitoring skills including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias required
- Experience with pre/post cardiac catheterization care required
- Sheath removal, feeding tube care, port access, blood product administration, and central line care/management preferred
- Willingness to float between departments, units, and facilities required
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include providing telemetry and cardiac monitoring care across multiple stepdown and intermediate care units
- May be assigned charge RN duties as needed
- No more than 7 days of RTO permitted
- Home address must be at least 75 miles from the facility to be eligible
- Local candidates within 75 miles are not accepted
- Two professional references required, one from a supervisor and one from a charge RN, both from within the past year
- Returning staff must have a 3-month break in service if previous tenure was 18 months or more
- Former permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning to any BJC facility as a traveler
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Infusion pump and glucometer training must be completed prior to start date
