Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Neuro ICU position requiring 2 years of critical care experience and NIHSS/ACLS/BLS certifications at a Level I Trauma Center.

Details

  • Work in the Neuro ICU of a Level I Trauma Center, academic medical center
  • Average patient ratio of 1:2 for both day and night shifts
  • Day shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
  • Every other weekend required
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • Floating required within scope to meet facility needs
  • Uses Epic for charting

Requirements

  • Active CT or compact RN license required (pending license accepted)
  • Current certifications: NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Minimum 2 years of Neuro ICU experience required
  • Level I Trauma Center experience preferred
  • Skilled in IV therapy, arterial line management, and central line care
  • Experience with care of ventilated patients and interpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs)
  • Experience with continuous IV sedation
  • Experience in CVA/acute stroke management
  • ICP monitoring and post neurosurgery management experience preferred
  • Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and management
  • Knowledge of isolation precautions and PPE protocols
  • 1 professional reference required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Provide critical care nursing to neurological ICU patients including stroke and post-neurosurgical cases
  • Participate in emergency response activities as needed, including natural disasters
  • Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted
  • COVID vaccine and booster required, with exemptions available only for religious or medical reasons
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Local candidates not accepted; candidates residing within 75 miles of the facility are considered local
  • Previous permanent staff must have been separated from employment for at least 2 years to be eligible as a travel candidate
  • Requests for time off exceeding 7 days require additional approval
