Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position requiring 2 years of experience and prior charge experience at a Level I Trauma Center.

Details

• Work in the Med/Surg Telemetry unit of a short-term acute care, Level I Trauma Center
• Average patient ratio of 1:5-6 across days, nights, and weekends
• Day shift schedule (3x12 hours, 7:00 AM-7:00 PM)
• Every other weekend required
• Float required between sister units, including Observation, within scope
• No on-call responsibilities
• Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

• Active RN license (CT or Compact) required prior to start date
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Prior charge nurse experience preferred and required to take charge shifts as needed
• Travel experience required
• Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and emergency response
• Experience with non-invasive airway management, IV therapy/phlebotomy, and peripheral line care
• Knowledge of isolation precautions and PPE protocols
• 1 professional reference required
• Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted
• COVID vaccine and booster required, with religious or medical exemptions only

Additional Information

• Provide direct nursing care to medical-surgical and telemetry patients, including cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia management
• Take charge shifts as needed to support unit leadership
• Work within a large academic medical center and Level I Trauma Center environment
• Trauma center experience at a large facility is required for consideration
• Travelers are obligated to participate in natural disaster or other emergency response activities as needed
• First-time travelers are accepted for this position
• RTO requests greater than 7 days require additional approval
• Local candidates are not accepted; candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the hospital site
• Former staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 2 years to be eligible to return as a traveler
