Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position requiring 2 years of experience and prior charge experience at a Level I Trauma Center.
Details
- Work in the Med/Surg Telemetry unit of a short-term acute care, Level I Trauma Center
- Average patient ratio of 1:5-6 across days, nights, and weekends
- Day shift schedule (3x12 hours, 7:00 AM-7:00 PM)
- Every other weekend required
- Float required between sister units, including Observation, within scope
- No on-call responsibilities
- Uses Epic charting system
Requirements
- Active RN license (CT or Compact) required prior to start date
- Current BLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Prior charge nurse experience preferred and required to take charge shifts as needed
- Travel experience required
- Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and emergency response
- Experience with non-invasive airway management, IV therapy/phlebotomy, and peripheral line care
- Knowledge of isolation precautions and PPE protocols
- 1 professional reference required
- Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted
- COVID vaccine and booster required, with religious or medical exemptions only
Additional Information
- Provide direct nursing care to medical-surgical and telemetry patients, including cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia management
- Take charge shifts as needed to support unit leadership
- Work within a large academic medical center and Level I Trauma Center environment
- Trauma center experience at a large facility is required for consideration
- Travelers are obligated to participate in natural disaster or other emergency response activities as needed
- First-time travelers are accepted for this position
- RTO requests greater than 7 days require additional approval
- Local candidates are not accepted; candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the hospital site
- Former staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 2 years to be eligible to return as a traveler
