Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a night shift position at a Level II Trauma Center, requiring 1 year of experience and a TX or compact RN license.

Details

  • Work in the MS/Tele unit of a Short Term Acute Care hospital with 379 staffed beds
  • Level II Trauma Center setting
  • Patient ratio of 1:4
  • Night shift, 3x12 hours (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
  • Weekend requirement of 6 shifts per 6-week schedule
  • Floating between units required
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • 13-week assignment length

Requirements

  • Active TX or compact RN license required in hand at time of submission
  • BLS certification required
  • Minimum 1 year of experience required
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Community hospital experience preferred
  • Trauma Level II experience preferred
  • Skills in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and telemetry remote monitoring
  • Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, and peripheral line care/management
  • Experience with oxygen administration and non-invasive airway management
  • Experience with isolation precautions and PPE
  • Neuro stepdown and neurological/psychiatric care experience preferred, including CVA, craniotomy, intracranial bleeds, pre/post neurosurgery, post TPA care, seizure disorders, spinal cord injury, and substance withdrawal
  • Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Provide medical/surgical and telemetry nursing care with cardiac monitoring and emergency response duties
  • Utilize rapid response and code teams as needed
  • Dress code requires solid navy blue uniforms or scrub attire for licensed nursing personnel
  • Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
  • Travelers may be expected to float between sister facilities near the contracted facility
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Local candidates accepted at a lower bill rate
  • Local radius rule of 50 miles applies
  • Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must not reside within 50 miles of the facility
  • RTO requests must be submitted upfront during the application process, as post-offer time off requests may not be accommodated
