Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a CVICU position requiring ACT experience and direct open-heart admissions from the OR.
Details
- Surgical Intensive Care Unit setting within a hospital
- CVICU unit caring for cardiovascular surgical patients
- Patient ratio of 1:2, with potential overflow patients requiring step-down level of care
- Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
- Weekday and weekend rotation required
- Blocked schedules will be considered
- Uses Cerner EMR system
Requirements
- Active WV or Compact RN license required (pending license accepted for submission)
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS through the American Heart Association (AHA)
- Experience with Activated Clotting Time (ACT) required
- Experience with direct fresh open-heart admissions from OR required
- Experience with pressure monitoring, Swan-Ganz management, Impella monitoring, and CRRT required
- Cardiac surgery skills required
- Minimum 2 Manager and/or Charge Nurse references from the past 2 years required
- Skills in IV therapy, central line care, PICC line management, and starting/maintaining IVs required
- Ventilator management and interpretation of ABGs required
- Experience titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips required
- Experience with CABG, IABP, post cardiac surgery care, and sheath removal required
- Experience with CRRT/CVVHD required
- Skills in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management required
Additional Information
- Provide direct post-operative care to open-heart surgery patients transferred directly from the OR
- Manage complex cardiovascular monitoring equipment including Swan-Ganz catheters and Impella devices
- Care for patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure
- Complete non-billable EMR training modules averaging 8 hours prior to start date
- Orientation is held every other Monday
- Candidates must have a permanent address more than 100 miles from the facility, with case-by-case consideration for those between 75-100 miles at the same rate
- Former permanent employees must wait 2 years from their last employment date before returning as a traveler
- Current Vandalia Health System employees (including CAMC Health Systems, Mon Health Systems, Davis Medical Center, Broaddus Hospital, Webster Memorial Hospital, Grafton City Hospital, Highland-Clarksburg Hospital, and Minnie Hamilton Health System) are not eligible for travel contracts within the health system

- Previous license probationary actions will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis
- First-time travelers may be considered
