Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor and Delivery position requiring Cerner experience and prior travel nursing experience.

Details

• Work in the Labor and Delivery unit of a hospital environment
• Unit also encompasses Antepartum, High Risk Antepartum, LDRP, and Mother/Baby care
• Facility averages 100-200 births per month
• Patient ratio of 1:3
• Day shift schedule, 3x12 hour shifts from 06:45-19:15
• Required to work every third weekend
• Candidates may float to all competent units within the facility
• Cerner EMR experience required

Requirements

• Active RN license (MO or Compact) required at time of submittal
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate (AWHONN Advanced preferred)
• CPI certification required starting January 2026
• Minimum 2 years of experience required, including Level 2 experience (charge experience preferred)
• Trauma Level II experience required (Trauma Level I preferred)
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Cerner charting system experience required
• Skilled in administration of blood/blood products, CVC/PICC line maintenance, and peripheral IV insertion
• Experience administering medications including anticonvulsants, antihypertensives, heparin, insulin drips, magnesium sulfate therapy, and oxytocin
• Skilled in newborn assessment, cord care, discharge teaching, and neonatal abstinence syndrome care
• Experience with pain management including opioids, pain assessment, and PCA IV use
• Knowledge of isolation precautions, phlebotomy, and vaccine administration
• Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive labor and delivery nursing care including antepartum, postpartum, and newborn care
• Assist with high risk deliveries, vaginal deliveries, and C-section procedures
• Perform circulating and recovery duties for C-sections (scrubbing for C-section preferred)
• Utilize external and internal fetal monitoring, including IUPC placement and calibration
• Provide breastfeeding support, car seat education, and circumcision care teaching to parents
• Manage couplet care and postpartum complications such as hemorrhage and pregnancy induced hypertension
• Follow baby friendly protocols throughout patient care
• Navy blue scrubs required for this unit
• Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate with no radius restriction
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
• Previous employees must have a gap of at least one year since their last assignment to be eligible for rehire
• Completion of assigned education modules is required prior to start
