Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Level III/IV NICU night shift position requiring VA or compact license and NRP certification.
Details
- Work in a Level III/IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at a teaching medical center
- 13-week contract with night shift schedule (4x12 hours, 19:00-7:00)
- 36 or 48 hours per week accepted
- Patient ratio of 1:3
- Uses Epic charting system
- Weekend rotation requiring 3 weekends per 6-week scheduling period
- Every other holiday coverage required
- Floating required within scope of practice as needed
Requirements
- Active VA or compact RN license required (pending accepted, must be in hand by Wednesday before start date)
- Current BLS and NRP certifications required (NRP must be in-hand at time of submission)
- Dr. Brown's Infant Driven Feeding Certificate required (may submit with certification pending)
- Minimum 2 years of NICU experience required
- Level III NICU experience required
- Epic EMR experience required
- BSN preferred
- Required skills include neonatal ventilator management, UAC/UVC care, therapeutic hypothermia, high frequency ventilation, nitric oxide therapy, central line care, IV vasopressor administration, and neonatal dosage calculations
- Two professional references required
Additional Information
- Provide comprehensive neonatal intensive care including respiratory support, IV therapy, and specialized procedures such as lumbar puncture assistance and umbilical catheter care
- Manage complex cases involving dysrhythmias, chest tube management, tracheostomy care, and post-abdominal surgery patients
- Maximum of 40 hours RTO approved per 13-week contract, with no additional time off approved after offer acceptance
- Time off not approved during the first two weeks of the assignment or over Labor Day weekend
- Candidates with prior UVA Health employment as permanent staff or travelers must disclose this, with a minimum 1-year separation required for return
- External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days at this facility
- First-time travelers are not required to have prior travel experience for this role
