Description

American Traveler is hiring a Nuclear Medicine Technologist with 2+ years of experience (1 year considered with strong skills) and required ARRT (N)(R), NMTCB, and state licensure.

Details

  • Hospital-based Nuclear Medicine department serving adult to geriatric patients
  • High scan load including outpatient and inpatient nuclear stress tests
  • Performs HIDA scans, VQ scans, biliary studies, lymph injections, and amyloid studies
  • Additional procedures include bone scans, whole body and limited tumor localization, thyroid studies, renal flow/function studies, liver and lung scans, MUGA scans, DEXA scans, and gastric emptying studies
  • Uses GE equipment including SPECT CT 850
  • Epic EMR experience preferred
  • 4x10 hour day shifts from 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM
  • Every other weekend required, inclusive of weekend on-call (either Saturday or Sunday, not both)
  • Weekday on-call required twice per week from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM
  • Floating required within specialty, other units, and sister facilities within scope
  • Holiday coverage required as scheduled

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of Nuclear Medicine experience required; candidates with 1 year and strong experience may be considered
  • ARRT (N), ARRT (R), BLS, and NMTCB certifications required
  • State license required, if applicable
  • Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
  • Proficiency in nuclear cardiology procedures including adenosine infusion, exercise/rest stress testing, Persantine infusion, and thallium stress testing preferred
  • Experience with SPECT imaging, sestamibi parathyroid scans, and I-123 uptake scans preferred
  • Skilled in drawing venous blood, starting and maintaining IVs, and storing/handling/disposal of radioactive materials
  • Must demonstrate strong, independent skill set in nuclear medicine procedures

Additional Information

  • Responsibilities include performing a wide range of nuclear medicine diagnostic procedures across cardiac, renal, hepatobiliary, skeletal, and oncologic studies
  • Requires knowledge of isolation precautions and proper PPE use
  • Management or lead experience preferred
  • Black scrubs required
  • First-time travelers will be considered for this role

The charge nurses and patient population is friendly.

Cons

They will short staff you every day. I got attitude multiple times when trying to take lunch 9 hours into my shift because ‘we don’t really do that here.’ Incredibly frustrating staffing levels, especially on the oncology floor.
