Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced Oncology RN for an Infusion Center position requiring chemotherapy certification and a minimum of 2 years of oncology/infusion experience.

- ,ter setient population requiring chemotherapy, electrolyte, and blood product administration
- Connected to an oncology urgent care area for add-on patients or provider assessments
- Patient ratio of 1:6-7
- Day shift schedule, 4x10 hours, 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM
- Required to work every other weekend
- No on-call responsibilities
- Floating required within specialty and acuity level
- Uses EPIC charting system
Requirements
- Active MD or Compact RN license required
- BLS certification (AHA only) required
- Chemotherapy certification (ONS/ONCC) required
- ONS/ONCC and NIHSS certifications preferred
- ACLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of oncology/infusion nursing experience required
- Previous travel nursing experience required
- EPIC charting experience required
- Skilled in IV therapy, infusions, and port accessing/management
- Experience administering chemotherapy via IV push and oral routes
- Experience with central line and PICC line care
- Knowledge of oncologic emergencies including anaphylaxis, hemorrhage, and sepsis
- Experience caring for patients with various cancer diagnoses including breast, lung, colorectal, and blood cancers
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred

- Manage symptom control for nausea, vomiting, altered mental status, and skin/mucous membrane changes
- Recognize and communicate abnormal lab values
- Provide patient and family education and psychosocial support
- Coordinate care and manage isolation precautions including neutropenic precautions
- First-time travelers accepted with strong oncology/infusion experience
- Travelers are expected to float within their scope of practice with no restrictions
- Candidates residing under 50 miles from the facility are not considered unless locals are specifically accepted for this role
- One major holiday off during the winter season may be permitted per unit policy
- Return travelers must have at least a 6-month break from the health system before returning
- Former staff must be separated from the health system for at least 12 months before returning as a traveler
- Contract extensions are typically limited to one renewal, followed by a required 6-month break before returning to the facility or unit
