Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Level III/IV NICU position requiring VA or compact RN license and 2+ years of NICU experience with Epic charting.
Details
- Work in a Level III/IV Neonatal ICU setting
- 13-week assignment on night shift, 4x12 hours (7:00 PM to 7:00 AM)
- Patient ratio of 1:3
- Uses Epic charting system
- Requires working 3 weekends per 6-week scheduling period
- Every other holiday coverage required
- Floating required within scope of practice as needed
Requirements
- Active VA or compact RN license required (pending license accepted, must be in hand by Wednesday before start date)
- Minimum 2 years of NICU experience required
- Level III NICU experience required
- Current BLS and NRP certifications required
- Dr. Brown's Infant Driven Feeding Certificate required (may be pending at submission)
- Epic EMR experience required
- BSN preferred
- Skilled in neonatal-specific procedures including UAC/UVC line management, high frequency ventilation, therapeutic hypothermia, and neonatal dosage calculations
- Experience with ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP) and nitric oxide therapy
- Two professional references required
Additional Information
- Provide comprehensive neonatal intensive care including respiratory, cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, and neurologic support
- Perform skills such as assisting with lumbar puncture, central line/implanted line care, and colostomy/ileostomy management
- Manage IV therapy including vasopressors and starting/maintaining IVs
- No radius restriction for this unit
- Time off requests are limited to a maximum of 40 hours per 13-week contract and must be disclosed at time of consideration
- Time off cannot be approved for the first two weeks of the assignment or over Labor Day weekend
- Previous UVA Health permanent staff or travelers must have a 1-year separation and leadership approval before returning
- External travelers are limited to a maximum of 365 total assignment days and are not eligible to return once this threshold is reached
- First-time travelers are not required to have prior travel experience for consideration
