Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Pediatric ICU night shift position requiring prior travel experience and a current MA RN license.
Details
- Work in the PICU of a hospital setting, primarily stationed on Peds with floating to PICU required
- Patient population includes respiratory, trauma, psych, diabetes, general med surg, and eating disorder cases
- Typical patient ratio of 1:2
- Night shift schedule (3x12 hours), 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
- Required to work every third weekend
- Union facility with no special scheduling accommodations; must be able to work all 7 days
- Uses Epic charting system
Requirements
- Active MA RN license in hand required
- Current certifications: BLS and PALS (APHON preferred)
- Minimum 2 years of recent Peds/PICU experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Trauma Level I experience preferred
- Skilled in respiratory care including ventilator management, ETT/NT suctioning, BiPAP/CPAP, and ABG interpretation
- Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, and central/PICC line management
- Knowledge of pediatric dosage calculations and emergency medication administration
- Experience with hemodynamic monitoring and dysrhythmia management
- Skilled in wound assessment/care and infection control/PPE protocols
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care to pediatric ICU and floor patients across a wide range of acute conditions
- Participate in PEWS/Rapid Response Team protocols as needed
- Required to complete a pass/fail EKG (Tele) test during orientation with an 80% passing score and one attempt allowed
- Required to complete a pass/fail Medication exam at orientation
- Additional pre-start and orientation modules required, including annual refreshers
- Local candidates accepted within a 200-mile radius at the same bill rate
- Returning staff must have a 12-month separation from the health system
- Up to 14 days of RTO may be submitted for review, with no RTO allowed during the first week of assignment
- First-time travelers are not eligible for this position due to travel experience requirement
