Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced Level III/IV NICU RN for a night shift travel contract requiring VA/compact RN license, BLS, and NRP certifications.
Details
- Work in a Level III/IV Neonatal ICU setting
- 13-week travel assignment
- Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM)
- Accepts 36 or 48 hour weekly commitments
- Patient ratio of 1:3
- Uses Epic charting system
- Required to work 3 weekends within each 6-week scheduling period
- Every other holiday coverage required
- Floating required within scope of practice as needed
Requirements
- Active VA or compact RN license required (pending license accepted, must be in hand by the Wednesday before start date)
- Current BLS and NRP certifications required in-hand at time of consideration
- Dr. Brown's Infant Driven Feeding Certificate required (can be pending, cost of $200)
- Minimum 2 years of NICU experience required
- Epic EMR experience required
- BSN preferred
- Experience with neonatal-specific skills including UAC/UVC line management, high frequency ventilation, therapeutic hypothermia, nitric oxide therapy, and neonatal dosage calculations
- Skilled in ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP), central/implanted line care, and IV therapy including vasopressors
- Experience with dysrhythmia interpretation and management
- Experience assisting with lumbar puncture and post-abdominal surgery care
- Two professional references required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide comprehensive neonatal intensive care to critically ill infants requiring advanced respiratory and cardiovascular support
- Time off cannot be approved during the first two weeks of the assignment
- Time off cannot be approved for Labor Day weekend
- Maximum of 40 hours of requested time off per 13-week contract, must be disclosed at time of consideration
- Any vacation time planned between offer acceptance and start date must be disclosed to allow for appropriate start date planning
- No radius rule applies to this position
- Local candidates are accepted
- First-time travelers are not preferred for this position
- Previous UVA Health permanent staff or internal/external travelers must have 1-year separation and leadership approval before returning
- External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days at this facility
- Travelers are not eligible to return after reaching 365 total assignment days regardless of time away
- Specialty-specific orientation modules completed during onboarding, recorded in Workday
