Description

American Traveler is hiring a Level III/IV NICU RN for a night shift assignment requiring NRP certification and at least 2 years of NICU experience.

Details

• Level III/IV Neonatal ICU setting
• Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 7:00 PM-7:00 AM)
• 13-week assignment length with 36 or 48 hour weekly options
• 1:3 patient ratio
• Epic EMR experience required
• 3 weekends required per 6-week scheduling period
• Must work 2 of the 3 winter holidays
• Floating required within scope of practice as needed

Requirements

• Active VA state RN license or compact license (pending accepted)
• BLS and NRP certifications required and must be in-hand at time of consideration
• Dr. Brown's Infant Driven Feeding Certification required (may be pending)
• Minimum 2 years of NICU experience required
• Epic charting system experience required
• Experience with high frequency ventilation, nitric oxide therapy, therapeutic hypothermia, UAC/UVC lines, and central line care
• Experience with neonatal dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Experience with neonatal dosage calculations and IV vasopressors
• Skilled in starting and maintaining IVs
• Two professional references required
• BSN preferred

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive neonatal intensive care to Level III/IV NICU patients
• Perform IV therapy, central/implanted line care, and ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP)
• Assist with procedures such as lumbar puncture
• Manage chest tubes and tracheostomy care as needed
• Care for patients with gastrointestinal conditions including colostomy/ileostomy management and post-abdominal surgery recovery
• Time off requests limited to a maximum of 40 hours per contract
• Time off not approved during the first two weeks of the assignment or around the Christmas holiday
• Previous UVA permanent staff or traveler employment requires a 1-year separation and leadership approval prior to consideration
• External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days at this facility
• No radius restriction for this unit
