Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Float position requiring travel experience and a 1:7 patient ratio across MS/Tele, SD/PCU, or ICU units.
Details
- Float role covering MS/Tele, SD/PCU, or ICU units based on facility need and staff skillset
- Med/Surg and telemetry patient population
- Patient ratio of 1:7
- Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
- Weekend requirement of every other weekend or 2 weekends per month
- Uses Cerner EMR and Omnicell medication system
Requirements
- Active TN or compact RN license required and must be in hand at time of consideration
- Current BLS certification required
- ACLS certification required for floating to SD/ICU units
- NIHSS certification can be obtained after offer
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
- Travel experience required
- Must be able to pass EKG testing prior to start date
- Cerner charting experience preferred but not required
- Certifications and licensure must not expire within 45 days of start date
- Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and peripheral line management
- Experience with respiratory care including chest tubes, oxygen administration, and tracheostomy care preferred
- Experience with cardiac monitoring, telemetry, and management of dysrhythmias
- Experience with rapid response/code team protocols
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care across multiple med/surg and telemetry-related units as assigned
- Floating is conducted in accordance with facility policy and clinical experience, with appropriate orientation provided per Joint Commission standards
- Complete required onboarding modules during orientation and annually
- Time off during major holidays and surrounding weeks will not be accommodated, including Valentine's Day, Easter, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's
- RTO requests can be addressed with the manager after arrival onsite using the facility RTO form
- First-time travelers are not specifically excluded but travel experience is required
- Local candidates within 75 miles of the facility may be considered at a reduced rate
- Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to qualify for the travel rate
- Former permanent staff cannot return to the same campus within 24 months, but may return to a different Covenant Health campus after 12 months
- Related or married travel team members cannot be assigned to the same unit
