Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg-Ortho night shift position requiring a CA RN license and 2-3 years of specialty and travel nursing experience.

Details

• Work in the MedSurg/Ortho unit of a Level 2 trauma acute care hospital
• 17-bed unit with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1 to 5
• Common diagnoses include hip, knee, shoulder, and spine cases with no drips
• Uses Cerner EMR
• 12-hour night shifts scheduled from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM
• Every other weekend required, with 4 weekend shifts in a 4-week schedule
• Holiday coverage required as part of the permanent staff rotation
• Nurses are first to float, including to telemetry at a 1 to 4 ratio and between other Med/Surg floors
• Portable telemetry box available when needed with monitor tech support
• 24/7 in-house hospitalist coverage, RT, and pharmacy support available
• One shift of unit-specific orientation provided

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required
• BLS certification required
• 2-3 years of Med/Surg-Ortho specialty experience required
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Must be able to read and interpret telemetry and pass a dysrhythmia exam
• Navy scrub color required

Additional Information

• Care for orthopedic and general Med/Surg patients including hip, knee, shoulder, and spine cases
• Charge nurse role is a clinical supervisor position without patient assignments, providing break relief
• One nurse aide supports the unit for 8 hours per day
• No IV team available on the unit
• Holiday RTO may be requested but cannot be guaranteed
• Strong teamwork skills are required for this role
