Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an IMCU/Step Down position requiring OR compact RN licensure and higher-acuity care experience including ventilator and titrated drip management.
Details
- Work in the Step Down/IMCU unit of a short-term acute care teaching hospital
- Care for higher-acuity intermediate care patients, including trach and ventilator patients and complex cardiac and respiratory cases
- Patient ratios of 1:3 and 1:4
- Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours (7:00 AM - 7:00 PM)
- Weekend rotation required every other weekend
- No on-call responsibilities
- Floating between units and sister facilities required based on skill set
- Uses Epic charting system
Requirements
- Active RN license (Compact) in hand at time of submission
- Current certifications: ACLS and BLS required; NIHSS preferred
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Experience with IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central/peripheral line care
- Experience with care of ventilated patients and tracheostomy management
- Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management
- Experience managing and titrating cardiac drips
- Insulin drip titration experience preferred
- Must have a vehicle for this assignment
- Epic EMR experience required
Additional Information
- Provide direct care to intermediate/step-down level patients with complex cardiac and respiratory needs
- Must commit to working 3 of 5 designated holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day
- Scrubs of any color accepted for general units; OR/Cath Lab scrubs provided by facility
- Teaching hospital environment with 536 total staff beds
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a travel candidate and must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
- Local candidates accepted at a lower bill rate
- Two supervisory references required, covering 1 year of experience within the last 3 years
- No fee parking available on-site
