Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Dept position requiring Level I trauma experience and a NC or compact RN license in hand.

Details

  • Work in the Emergency Room of a Level I Trauma Center
  • General Emergency Department serving combined adult/pediatric population
  • Patient ratio of 1:4
  • Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 19:00 to 7:30
  • Required to work every other weekend
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

  • Active RN license, NC or Compact, required in hand
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS
  • CPI certification preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of recent Emergency Room experience required
  • Level I Trauma experience required
  • Epic charting system experience required
  • Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
  • 1 supervisory reference from within the last year required for consideration
  • Skills in IV therapy and phlebotomy required
  • Experience with arterial line management, blood product administration, central line care, BiPAP/CPAP management, ventilated patient care, and ABG interpretation preferred
  • Experience with continuous IV sedation, IV vasopressors, and procedural sedation preferred
  • Neurological trauma experience including CVA, ICP monitoring, and traumatic brain injury preferred
  • Experience with dysrhythmia interpretation and management preferred
  • Triage and ortho trauma experience preferred

Additional Information

  • Care for patients presenting with a wide range of emergency conditions including trauma, cardiac, neurological, and pediatric cases
  • Work within a Level I Trauma Center equipped for high-acuity emergency care
  • Orientation sessions held bi-weekly
  • Scrub color required: Royal Blue
  • Flu vaccine required from October 31 through March 31 with no exemptions
  • First-time travelers are not considered for this position
  • RTO requests must be limited to 5-7 days maximum
  • Local candidates accepted within a 75-mile radius at a reduced rate
  • Candidates with previous permanent employment at Duke University Health System must disclose this history and must not have been a permanent employee within the past 6 months
