Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring 2 years of recent ER experience and Level I Trauma Center experience.

• Level I Trauma Center setting
• Patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:4
• Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call requirements
• Epic EMR experience required
• Bi-weekly orientation schedule

Requirements

• Active RN license (NC or Compact) required in hand at time of consideration
• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS
• CPI certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of recent Emergency Room experience required
• Level I Trauma Center experience required
• Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
• Epic charting system experience required
• Skills in IV therapy and phlebotomy required
• Experience with arterial line management, blood product administration, central line care, BiPAP/CPAP management, and care of ventilated patients preferred
• Experience interpreting ABGs and managing IV vasopressors and continuous IV sedation preferred
• Experience with procedural sedation administration/monitoring preferred
• Neurological trauma experience preferred, including CVA, ICP monitoring, and traumatic brain injury care
• Experience with dysrhythmia interpretation and management preferred
• Pediatric emergency experience preferred, including head injury and near drowning cases
• Triage and ortho trauma experience preferred
• One supervisory reference from within the last year required for consideration
• No previous permanent employment with the health system within the past 6 months

Additional Information

• Provide emergency care in a combined adult/pediatric ED within a Level I Trauma Center environment
• Handle high-acuity cases including gunshot wounds, traumatic amputations, and spinal cord injuries
• Utilize isolation precautions and PPE protocols in daily practice
• Royal blue scrubs required
• First-time travelers are not eligible for this position
• Local candidates accepted within a 75-mile radius at a reduced rate
• RTO must be limited to 5-7 days maximum
• Flu vaccine required with no exemptions during flu season (October 31 - March 31)
